Starbucks Iced Lemon Pound Cake (CAKE!)

For those of you who love the lemon loaf from Starbucks seen above, I've made a duplicate! Only instead of using a bread pan (partially because I didn't have one) and partially because if you love lemon(lemon loaf) then you'd want bigger slices anyway, I made it into a cake!

Makeup Monday: 3 Ways to Clean Your Brushes

If you want your brushes to last you need to clean them properly; to clean your brushes properly you need to wash them. This is one of the most important things to do and tends to be the most overlooked. Makeup brushes can be a breeding ground for bacteria, think of how many times you have touched it to your face to the product of choice and vice versa over and over, and how much bacteria is on your face daily because of the natural elements we're exposed to and the oil it produces.

Simple Ways to Relax

Pin It I wanted to share some simple things we can do to lift our moods on days you may be feeling down. These take little to no time at all and don't cost a thing, so when you need a boost in spirits try these:

  • Take a shower. Wash the bad day away. Years ago I made it a habit to shower with a few candles lit, it is so incedibly relaxing, and conserves energy! 
  • Eat healthy. Fat, & junk food filled foods make us tired and lazy. Opt for a smoothie, some fruit, or granola to keep your body fueled.
  • Get moving. Exercise in the privacy of your home or take a quick walk. You can even get light exercise from gardening, and cleaning.
  • Get some sun/fresh air. This goes with the above. I like to go in my backyard for a few moments, sweep, check on the plants, etc. I'm also a huge fan of natural light. I'm always saying that gloomy days make me exhausted so on sunny days I make sure to open the blinds and let the light in, it instantly brightens my spirits.
  • Spend the afternoon baking. This works for me, I've included one of my dishes below. =)

  • Browse your favorite websites. Of course this is one my favs lol.
  • Take a deep breath. Calm yourself down and de-stress.
  • Fill a room with fresh flowers. Whenever I have flowers I'm happy each time I look at them, they add some color and brighten up the room.
  • Play with your pet. They love you unconditionally, show them the same.

Facts: I have owned many black polishes it's actually one of my favorite colors, and in my opinion, unless it has a shimmer to it, the nail color is standard. Therefore for my readers on a budget you can make the decision of purchasing any black be it a shade by MAC, OPI, or Wet n'Wild or even the polishes  found at your local dollar store! Just make sure to throw on a base coat and top coat and you're good to go =)

First Impression: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

My First Impression of MAC's "Mineralize Skinfish Natural," or MSFN(including photos & swatches).
I went to the counter knowing my shade, my desired effect, the prices, my top choice (MSFN), and MOST IMPORTANTLY, not wanting to be sold things I wasn't there for LOL. I was looking for a setting powder similar to one of my other favs by a different brand that I wasn't willing to spend over $40 on, it needed to be light coverage, non-dewy, and photo well. My research and the clerk both agreed my best bet would be the Mineralize SkinFinish.
But we all know, research is one thing, taking it home and trying it out is another...

We've been experiencing a heat-wave the last few months. I don't know about the rest of you but when my car is telling me it's 100* I'm far from a fan of that weather, and do everything in my power to stay inside, stay hydrated, and stay cool!

This particular day there were mandatory errands to run(this picture was taken over a weekend). So, live from my closet is a quick OOTD! I love off the shoulder tops, camis always come in handy, and who doesn't love accessories?!
